Construction

This Beret is knitted from the crown to the brim, so you can always try it on as you go to check the size and see the colours. It is worked in the round, beginning with an I-cord stem, and features a two-colour Wisp stitch pattern on top. The fold and the brim decreases are worked in stockinette, with your choice of a ribbed band or a stretchy folded bind off. The lace-weight yarn, held double, and the colourwork pattern create a loose and fluffy fabric; using a thicker yarn with the same size needles will create a denser fabric and a smaller beret.

Gauge

10 x 10cm / 4 x 4 inches = 20 sts x 30 rnds in stockinette with 2 strands held together on 3.75 needle. Note: Gauge is approximate. The light, stretchy fabric is relatively adaptable and accommodating.
