The Space Top is a cropped, sleeveless design with a cut-out back, textured nodules and contrasting stripes. The front and back are knitted separately from the top down, with seed-stitch side panels worked separately. Increases and decreases shape the back opening, while contrasting stripes run through the nodules and around the garment. Picked-up two-colour twisted rib finishes the neckline, armholes and back opening.

Construction

The garment is worked top down by knitting the front and back pieces individually. Seed-stitch panels
down either side of the garment are worked separately. A back-opening is shaped by working increases and decreases along the back selvedge edges. Nodules are worked throughout the garment and contrasting colour stripes run through each nodule and all the way around the garment. Finally edges around the neck, arms and back-opening are picked up and worked in a 2-colour twisted rib.

Gauge

10 x 10cm/4 x 4 inches = 24 sts x 33 rows in stockinette with largest needles and 2 threads of MC, after blocking.

10 x 10cm/4 x 4 inches = 31 sts x 36 rows in 2-colour seed stitch
(see p4 for chart). MC + CC, after blocking.

Row gauge is important in this design. Match the seed stitch and
stockinette row gauges as closely as possible.
Gauge needle may be different from stockinette gauge needle.

I love the pattern! My one concern is the instructions for the horizontal bands of color that you pick up and knit. I really appreciate that there is a video, howevr the video is a bit confusing as the person’s hands move very quickly and partially obstruct the knit technique used to create the horizontal bands.
