The Lolita Strap Top combines a shaped bodice with an open honeycomb lace lower section. It is worked from the top down, beginning with separate front and back straps and neckline shaping. The pieces join at the underarms to continue the body in the round, then the lower section is worked in a contrasting yarn. The straps are adjusted and joined at the shoulders. The pattern uses Teddy and Veranita.

Sizes XS, 2XL, 4XL and 5XL have not yet been fully tested.

Fit & measurements

Size order: XS, S, M, L, XL, 2XL, 3XL, 4XL, 5XL.

To fit bust circumference: 69–78, 79–88, 89–96, 101–106, 111–117, 122–127, 132–137, 142–147, 152–158 cm. Strap length is adjustable.

Sizes XS, 2XL, 4XL and 5XL have not been fully tested.

Yarn requirements

Size M sample only: 38 g Teddy for the main colour and 8 g Veranita for the contrasting colour; 46 g total. The sample used one skein of each yarn.

Needles

5.5 mm and 8 mm circular needles. Adjust needle sizes as necessary to match gauge.

Notions

2 stitch markers; scrap yarn or stitch holder; scrap yarn for the provisional cast-on.

Construction

Lolita Strap Top is worked top down. It begins with one front strap and a little front neckline shaping, stitches are then placed on hold and a second strap worked for the other side. The two pieces are then joined at the front with additional cast-on stitches to complete the front neckline. The bodice is continued with bust and underarm shaping then stitches are placed on hold. Stitches are cast on for a back strap and shaped for one side of the back. Stitches are put on hold and a second back strap worked for the other side. The back and front pieces are then joined and worked in the round for the rest of the bodice. The lower body is then worked in contrasting yarn in an open-honeycomb lace stitch. Lastly, straps are adjusted to the desired length and the front and back straps joined at the shoulders.
