As of 1 January 2021 the rules for purchasing items online from the UK are the same ones that apply when you order goods from anywhere outside the European Union, such as from the United States or China. This means that:
- you must pay VAT on products that cost more than €22
- you must also pay import duties if products cost more than €150.
You will be charged these costs by the delivery company.
The delivery company will also need to declare the goods to customs and pay customs clearance costs. These costs may also be passed on to you.
We have been advised that on July 1st 2021 all duties, customs and VAT will have to be paid at check out, which will simplify your experience while shopping with us, making shipping faster and give you a clear idea of how much you can expect to pay. This was supposed to be in place sooner but has been delayed due to COVID.
For the intermittent 5 months we are able to reverse the fees for customs and duties for our EU customers when using DHL at check out, we understand this is a little more expensive than standard shipping but it means there will be no hidden costs or surprises when receiving your order and that your parcel should reach you faster.
Unfortunately with standard post we are unable to reverse the charges at the moment so you may receive a VAT bill plus duties and customs when using Royal Mail. However we have been advised by Royal Mail that they will be implementing a system to remedy that this month, firstly on Tracked and Signed items and then on standard items. We will make sure to let you know as soon as we have set this system up.
We are still working on how to deal with the €150 threshold on tariffs and duties but again we will let you know as soon as we have something worked out.
DHL ON-DEMAND DELIVERY offers the following delivery options:
- Deliver my package on Another Day:Scheduled delivery
- Deliver my package to Another Address: Alternate Delivery to work or family.
- Deliver my Package at a Safe Place: Authorise Shipment Release.
- Deliver my package with Neighbour: Leave with neighbour, reception or guard.
- Deliver my package at a DHL Service Point:Hold for Collection.
- Request my Hold My Package: Vacation hold safekeeping up to 30 days.
If you choose Express Delivery, you will receive a notification from DHL EXPRESS ON-DEMAND DELIVERY
ODD will provide you with email/SMS updates about your shipments progress and estimated delivery date/time.
When the shipment doesn’t fit your schedule the 100% free service enables you to choose the time and place of delivery.
