Established in 2016 by Layla Yang, Qing Fibre is an exploration of transformative colour, tactile texture, and the technical possibilities of hand-dyed fibre. Our practice is rooted in a commitment to visual depth, specialising in the vibrant, saturated hues and complex variegated tones that define our aesthetic.

 

Our Yarn

Sourcing and Ethics

We specialise in high-grade natural fibres, including superfine merino, cashmere, and silk. Every base is ethically sourced and Mulesing-free. We prioritise traceability and sustainable farming practices to ensure the raw materials we use meet our standards for animal welfare and environmental responsibility.

The Technical Canvas 

Our process is material-led. We engineer our dye formulas to respond specifically to the protein structures of various fibres - from the high-refractive index of silk to the matte, thermal - efficient properties of yak. We provide intermediate and advanced fibre artists with the precision - dyed materials necessary for complex, intentional garment construction.

Our Patterns

We develop versatile knitwear patterns designed to showcase the unique characteristics of our hand-dyed yarns. Our designs often incorporate advanced techniques, such as German short rows and double knitting, to provide a challenging and rewarding experience for the intermediate to advanced maker.

From seasonal collections to special occasion releases,  each design is intended to be a functional, knitted blessing for the journey ahead.

Our Studios

Qing Fibre maintains total vertical integration of our production via a dual-studio model:

  • London - Our Creative Hub: Located at Hackney, our London studio is where our designs are conceptualised and developed. It serves as the foundation for our colour design, knitwear pattern development, and content creation.

  • Beijing - Our Production Studio: Established in 2024 as a fully-owned internal facility. By operating our own studio in Layla's home city, it allows our team to execute proprietary hand-dyeing techniques with total control over tonal saturation and colorfastness.
