Our newest piece in the parquet pattern collection is this gorgeous vest. The eye-catching dip stitch detail is fun to knit and even more fun to wear!
The Story in the Stitch
Back in 2021, which was a relatively quiet year for yarn dyeing, we used some time to work on a collection of designs. We started with a mood board: stitch, texture, shape and style.
The woven-looking stitch inspired the parquet collection and became the staple for these designs, creating fun contrast in the garments. As the stitch can be created with different weights of yarn, it can also be a great stash buster!
Construction
Worked from the top down, this pattern uses both flat and circular knitting.
You start with the back piece, until the armhole increases are finished, and then pick up the shoulder seams again to start on the front piece.
Throughout the garment you will be working a decorative dip stitch which is worked by pulling loops of yarn from the back of the work and slipping/knitting these loops. The pattern will come with video instructions on how to make the stitch!
The stitch is knit with an intarsia-like technique, which means the inside will not be bulky.
You will finish the piece with ribbing around the neckline and armholes, giving the vest a polished look.
This piece is sure to catch the eyes of every knit-lover, and you will be saying 'No, I made that!' to many questions asking where you got the vest from.

The Parquet vest is knit up with Teddy and Dashing Sassy as the base, and Big Merino Chunky as the contrast colour. We have put together four kits in fun colourways to make your first Parquet Vest making easy!
