International Women's Day 2020

International Women's Day 2020

Here at Qing Fibre, we are always keen to shine a light on Women in business, especially those in creative job roles. As a female-led company, we want to make sure we support others and create an industry in which we can all feel encouraged and valued. With that in mind, we have decided to support Plan International, Plan International is a charity that focuses on advancing children’s rights and equality for girls by working together with children and  young people. Their main focuses are on education, ending violence, youth activism and sexual health and rights.

With International Women’s Day circled in our calendar, it’s the perfect excuse to get knitting with female empowerment in mind.

This year International Women’s Day takes place on Sunday 8 March, which also coincides with the Women’s Day Parade.

Whether you’re planning to knit a standout garment for the occasion, or you fancy getting your DIY juices flowing in homage to the event, we’ve got just the yarn for you.

This year the chosen colour for International Women's Day is purple. Strong, independent, regal and bursting with ambition, it’s an empowering colour that also signifies wisdom, peace and independence.

If you’re looking for inspiration, here’s three punchy shades of purple yarn you don’t want to miss:

Dark Cherry

For your inner-goth, our fabulous Dark Cherry blend brings a bewitching flavour to outerwear. This classic DK yarn features a nylon mix, ensuring that colours and speckles glimmer at every turn.

Frost

A slightly more subtle shade of purple, but still a colour that packs a punch. Vibrant yellow, pink and blue speckles give this muted lilac a fun and electric feel. Knitted up on our Classic DK base, you will have a garment that you never want to put down.

Ink

A variegated adventure into blues and greys that sit alongside a deep purple. This colour looks, especially on our High Twist BFL base.
